18/11 Conference “España y la Unión Europea: 40 años de integración, crecimiento y competitividad”
The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce (Cámara de Comercio de España), is organising on Wednesday 18 November, from 17:00 to 18:30, the conference “España y la Unión Europea: 40 años de integración, crecimiento y competitividad” (Spain and the European Union: 40 years of integration, growth and competitiveness), to be held in Brussels.
The event marks the 40th anniversary of Spain’s accession to the European Union, effective on 1 January 1986, and will take stock of what these four decades have meant for the integration, growth and competitiveness of the Spanish economy and its companies.
The welcome will be given by José Luis Bonet Ferrer, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and Pablo López Álvarez, President of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg.
This will be followed by a conversation with Fernando Sampedro, Secretary of State for the European Union, under the title “España y la construcción europea: balance de 40 años” (Spain and European integration: a 40-year review), moderated by John Rutherford, Global Head of Public Affairs at BBVA.
A round table with representatives of Spanish companies with international activity and a presence in the European market will then review the business record of these 40 years and the challenges for European competitiveness. The discussion, also moderated by John Rutherford, will be open to questions from the audience, and the event will close with concluding remarks and a networking cocktail.
The event is aimed at companies, executives and institutional representatives interested in the relationship between Spain and the European Union. The session will be held in Spanish.
