The Chamber welcomes the E-DEM project in Graz, Austria
On 27 and 28 October, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg took part in the kick-off meeting of the European Erasmus+ E-DEM project, Energy Democracy: Promoting Energy Active Citizenship in Young People’s Living Environments, held in Graz, Austria.
The E-DEM project aims to empower young people aged 18 to 30 to become active players in the energy transition, particularly in energy planning through energy communities. These communities are initiatives in which citizens, SMEs and local authorities come together to produce, manage and consume energy in a sustainable, collective and locally driven way.
Over its two-year duration, the project will combine the development of energy-related knowledge with active participation and dialogue with policymakers. Activities will include training sessions for youth workers, dialogue processes, a visit to the European Parliament and practical training on energy communities.
E-DEM will also develop a range of open educational materials and resources covering energy, participation and energy planning. In doing so, the project will also contribute to youth employability and entrepreneurship. Active involvement in energy communities will help strengthen the green and digital skills increasingly demanded by the labour market, encourage entrepreneurial thinking and create new green job opportunities within local business communities.
The project brings together a consortium of six organisations from Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, Austria and Germany, combining expertise in youth work, training, energy democracy, innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the meeting in Graz, the partners reviewed the project’s objectives, responsibilities and timeline. They also worked on strategic planning, the definition of key deliverables, the dissemination plan and the engagement strategy. The meeting further included team-building activities, an introduction to youth work methodologies and a meeting with a local business incubator.
