The Chamber collaborates in the Inauguration of the Spanish Presidency in Luxembourg
Last Monday, 3 July, the inauguration concert of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, organised by the Spanish Embassy in Luxembourg with the collaboration of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, took place at the Luxembourg Philharmonic. The event was attended by representatives of the Luxembourg government, the diplomatic corps and the European institutions based in the Grand Duchy.
The event brought to Luxembourg for the first time one of the most internationally renowned Spanish pianists of the moment, the Asturian pianist Martín García García, winner of the 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition and third prize winner of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition. After having performed as a soloist in many concert halls in Europe and the United States, García García García was in charge of offering a musical opening to the Spanish Presidency with a repertoire made up of pieces by Chopin and Brahms.
Before the beginning of the concert, the Ambassador of Spain in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, His Excellency Mr. José María Rodríguez-Couso, took the floor and summarised the priorities of the Spanish Presidency. In his speech, the Ambassador expressly thanked the Chamber for its collaboration and involvement in the organisation of the opening concert, which he extended to the sponsoring companies of the event (Adepa, Bankinter Luxembourg, Caixabank and Banque de Luxembourg), all of them partners of the Chamber.
After the ambassador, the representative of the European Commission in Luxembourg, Anne Calteux, took the floor to wish Spain the best of luck in its fifth European Presidency.
The concert was attended by various personalities and authorities from the European institutions based in Luxembourg (Court of Justice of the European Union, European Court of Auditors, European Investment Bank). The event was also attended by representatives of the Luxembourg government’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and ambassadors from many countries.
After the concert, all attendees were able to enjoy a networking cocktail.
