The Chamber of Commerce, along with fifteen companies, visits imec

29/04/2025

Last Friday, on 25 April, the Chamber organised a corporative guided visit to imec in Leuven. Around fifteen companies participated, and these are interested in learning first-hand about the biggest investigation and innovation centre on nanoelectronics and digital technology in the world.

The visit started with a speech of the CSO and EVP of the centre, Jo De Boeck, who talked about the origins of imec, its partners and the infrastructure. He also hinted at what imec Spain will be, a project that will be realised in Malaga in the next few years. It will involve a specialized chip technology pilot line that aims to answer the industry’s need for R&D, prototyping and pave the road to the manufacturing of new technologies.

Then, the participants had the chance to get a closer look at the cleanroom of imec, the work domain and development of reference internationally. The biggest technology companies and startups in the world collaborate in the investigation to create chips that will be used in the products that we will consume in the next decades.

The Chamber organises cooperative visits to institutions, centres or organisations of business interest several times a year, such as this one. To find out first-hand which visits are scheduled, please contact us at info@e-camara.com.
