On Tuesday 22 October, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg organised an informative webinar on current opportunities in the Benelux markets, aimed at wineries from the Canary Islands.

With the help of PROEXCA, a support organisation for the internationalisation of Canary Island companies, more than fifteen wineries from the Canary Islands attended the online presentation, in which they were given the keys to successfully exporting their product.

During the webinar, Sara Sánchez González, Business Development Manager at the Chamber, discussed the difficulties faced by wine exporting companies in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and analysed with the participants the most successful commercial actions to carry out. During her speech, Sara Sánchez also spoke about the special taxes on alcohol applied to each country, VAT and IGIC, and the procedures and documents to be considered in your next commercial exchanges with the Benelux.

Her colleague from the commercial department, Miriam Barreiro, presented the trends in wine consumption among Benelux citizens and the existing competition in each country that affects Spanish wines. In addition, she provided information on the latest developments concerning the labelling requirements for wines sold in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
