The Chamber fosters entrepreneurship at the University of Antwerp
On 9 October 2025 the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg returned to the University of Antwerp to deliver its annual workshop “Test your business idea with the EYE programme.” This session is part of the Chamber’s long‑standing collaboration with the university to promote entrepreneurship among students. In previous years, the Chamber has used this workshop to encourage students on the Spanish for Business and Economics course to explore entrepreneurship, helping them tap into their innovative potential and design a business plan.
During the 90‑minute workshop, students were invited to form their own “start‑ups” and received guidance from Andrea galante, EYE’s project manager on refining their business plans and testing their entrepreneurial concepts. The event was organised in cooperation with Professor Lieve Vangehuchten, who leads the Spanish Business and Professional Communication track at the University of Antwerp’s Institute of Academic and Professional Communication (IPAC). The Chamber thanked Professor Vangehuchten and the university for their invitation and expressed its commitment to continue partnering with them to cultivate entrepreneurship among university students
About the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme
The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme is a cross‑border exchange scheme funded by the European Union. It gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn directly from experienced entrepreneurs who run small businesses in other participating countries Through a stay with the host entrepreneur, participants develop the practical skills needed to run a small firm, while host entrepreneurs benefit from fresh perspectives and the possibility to collaborate with foreign partners and access new markets
The programme is open to:
- New entrepreneurs: individuals who are planning to set up their own business or have started one within the last three years
- Experienced entrepreneurs: owners or managers of small or medium‑sized enterprises in one of the participating countries
Participants do not pay any participation fees; instead, they receive a grant to cover part of their travel and subsistence costs during the exchange By encouraging young entrepreneurs to gain hands‑on experience abroad, the EYE programme fosters innovation, networking and international growth.
The Chamber is grateful for the continued support from the University of Antwerp and Professor Vangehuchten and looks forward to strengthening this collaboration. Encouraging students to think creatively about business ideas and to engage with programmes such as EYE aligns with the Chamber’s mission to nurture entrepreneurship and cross‑border business connections.
