Introduction to the Luxembourg Financial Market

A Specialist Training Programme for Graduates with an International Financial Vocation

Luxembourg is one of the most significant financial centres in the world. Home to some of Europe’s leading institutions and a global-tier investment fund industry, the Grand Duchy offers exceptional professional opportunities for those equipped with the right training and a solid understanding of the local regulatory, tax and operational landscape.

To prepare young graduates to enter this market with real prospects of success, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg organises the training programme Introduction to the Luxembourg Financial Market — a unique initiative combining high-level technical training with a first paid work experience at companies operating in the sector.

Who Is It For?

The programme is designed for university graduates with a background in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, International Relations, Financial Markets or Law with an economic specialisation. These are profiles with a strong foundation in financial matters who are looking to make the leap into the international job market and, in particular, into the Luxembourg financial ecosystem.

No prior professional experience in the sector is required: the programme is conceived precisely to provide that first qualified contact with the industry, equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and connections needed to launch their careers in Luxembourg.

A Network of Leading Partner Companies

One of the programme’s most distinctive features is its close collaboration with highly regarded companies and financial institutions in Luxembourg. These organisations not only deliver the training sessions, bringing a direct professional perspective, but also offer participants the opportunity to join their teams upon completion of the course.

This partnership between the Chamber and the private and institutional sector ensures that the training remains permanently aligned with the real needs of the market, and that participants enter the programme with direct visibility among the sector’s most relevant employers.

Programme Content and Structure

The course runs over two intensive weeks and is built around masterclasses delivered by active professionals from leading companies and institutions in the Luxembourg financial sector. This approach ensures that the content is not merely theoretical, but directly applicable to the real professional context of the Grand Duchy.

Throughout the programme, participants receive training in the following areas:

Book Book Fundamentals of the Luxembourg Financial Sector

A panoramic overview of the country’s financial ecosystem, its competitive positioning within Europe and the role played by the various types of entities present in the market.

Briefcase Briefcase Wealth Management and Private Banking

Participants become familiar with the principles of asset management and private banking services — an area of particular relevance in the Luxembourg context.

Chart-line Chart-line Investment Funds

An in-depth analysis of the main investment vehicles used in Luxembourg — including UCITS, SIFs, SICARs, RAIFs, Private Equity and Real Estate funds — along with their characteristics, regulatory frameworks and practical workings.

Doc-text Doc-text International Taxation and Regulatory Compliance

A substantial portion of the programme is dedicated to international taxation, tax compliance requirements and anti-money laundering standards — areas of growing demand across the sector.

Search Search Financial Auditing

Participants gain a practical understanding of audit processes as applied to the financial sector, with particular attention to the Luxembourg framework.

Flow-tree Flow-tree Securitisation and Legal Structures

The programme also covers securitisation transactions and corporate governance, addressing the most common legal structures, governing bodies and associated risks.

Vcard Vcard Professional Skills and Employability

Alongside the technical training, the programme dedicates time to the development of professional competencies: effective communication, presenting oneself in the Luxembourg job market and making the most of networking opportunities in an international environment.

From Training to Employment

Upon completing the programme, and following the relevant selection processes, participants have the opportunity to join one of the partner companies on a paid contract with a minimum duration of six months. This seamless transition from training to employment lies at the heart of the programme’s distinctive value: it is not simply about learning, but about beginning to build a real professional career in one of Europe’s most dynamic financial markets.
