Briefly describe your professional career.

I hold a degree in Economics, Social and Political Sciences and International Relations from the Catholic University of Leuven. In the Luxembourg financial sector, I have held positions of particular relevance in custodian banks over more than twenty years of experience.

I am currently Country Head – Managing Director of Cecabank’s Luxembourg Branch. I joined Cecabank in April 2024 from the Luxembourg office of Bank New York Mellon where I held the position of Branch Managing Director and Head of Investment Management EMEA Asset Servicing & Digital; at the same bank, I was head of Depository Bank & Banking for ten years.

In addition, throughout my career I have held key positions at Clearstream Banking, Brown Brothers Harriman and RBC DEXIA Investor Services Bank in Luxembourg.

What is your company currently doing in Luxembourg?

Cecabank has spent more than a decade building its consolidated position as an essential infrastructure of the Spanish financial system and consolidating its innovative B2B business model. In Securities Services, Cecabank is a benchmark institution in Spain and Portugal, covering all securities clearing, settlement, registry, depository and custody services.

As a trusted and strategic partner, Cecabank accompanies our clients during their international expansion and wherever their business is located. For this reason, we have opened a branch in Luxembourg to provide fund depositary services for the vehicles domiciled there, custody and settlement of securities, reinforcing our commitment to accompany our clients in their needs.

What added value does your company offer in Luxembourg compared to your competitors?

Cecabank is a European bank, the leading Spanish custodian bank in Securities Services in the Iberian market; it is the largest independent custodian and the leading provider of settlement and custody services in Spain, actively collaborating with more than 100 institutional clients and more than 45 asset managers on regulatory, operational and business aspects, and providing a guarantee of non-competition with its clients.

The creation of this new office in Luxembourg has been encouraged by our clients; they are satisfied with Cecabank and want us to join them in the Grand Duchy. Among the reasons, Cecabank is an institution with a high level of solvency, experience and expertise, which has been recognised by Global Banking & Finance Review when it was awarded the prize for the best custodian bank in Spain for eight consecutive years.

The bank’s Luxembourg branch aims to provide expertise that supports clients’ growth strategies. Many are relatively small investors, and our strategy is to help them grow their business in Luxembourg.

What added value do you think the Spanish Financial Forum (SFF) can bring to the Luxembourg financial services industry and its professionals?

The Spanish Financial Forum (SFF) can bring several advantages to the Luxembourg financial services industry and its professionals, such as: fostering networking between experts, investors and companies, both from Spain and other countries, and allowing the exchange of knowledge and best practices on key issues, which can enrich the practice of the activity in Luxembourg.

In addition, the forum can be a cutting-edge platform to boost the industry in this market, providing valuable information on emerging trends, business opportunities and investment strategies. It will also contribute to strengthening the relationship between Spain and Luxembourg in economic and financial matters, promoting cooperation between the two jurisdictions and offering insights that provide value to both the industry and its professionals.
