Briefly describe your professional career.

I have more than 15 years of professional experience in the financial sector, particularly in the field of currency management solutions, international payments and cash management.

I was clear about my vocation, so I decided that there was no better centre in Spain to train me than CUNEF, created and managed by the Spanish Banking Association. It was a key stage and has greatly influenced my subsequent career.

Before joining Ebury, to which I have been linked for 12 years, I gained experience in the area of Cash Management and International Banking at Commerzbank, and after that I was an analyst at Atlas Corporation, where I deepened my knowledge of technical and fundamental analysis for Forex, commodities and world indices.

In 2012 I joined this great project that is Ebury, a period that has given me experience and responsibilities in areas from FX management, to currently as Head of Ebury Institutional Solutions (EIS) in Spain and Portugal, providing solutions for clients with more sophisticated needs.

In essence, it is a career closely linked to the financial sector, to currency management, to the management of banking infrastructures and to making international cash flows more efficient.

What is your company currently doing in Luxembourg?

Our business in Luxembourg is part of the Ebury Institutional Solutions (EIS) vertical, which offers specialised financial solutions for institutional investors and corporate service providers.

By way of summary we can say that we facilitate and optimise operations in elements that are clearly identifiable for all those of us working in Luxembourg, such as:

● The agile opening of local bank accounts in Luxembourg for all types of investment structures and vehicles, which we know is often a headache, especially with the issuance of Blocking Certificates necessary for the incorporation of entities in Luxembourg. All of this, bearing in mind that onboarding times are key, we help to streamline and unblock formal issues that sometimes slow down these operations.

Currency Risk Management: Development and execution of bespoke currency hedging strategies for funds, managers and investors, taking into account fund structures and their specific needs globally in over 130 currencies, specialising in payments and collections from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Cash Management Solutions: Tools and services to optimise international cash management for funds and CSPs.

CSP support: with specific solutions for fund managers (AIFMs & ManCos), depositaries, fund administrators and transfer agents.

In short, we have the capacity and experience both in the creation and management of local accounts, as well as in the entire management of cross-border operations and foreign exchange risk management; and Luxembourg, as one of the world’s leading financial centres, is a strategic location for us.

What added value does your company offer in Luxembourg compared to your competitors?

I believe that in the financial field there are no general solutions, but the best solution for each case, and therefore I am a strong advocate of an analysis of the specific needs in order to find precise solutions.

Over the years, Ebury has managed to position itself as one of the major references in the field of international payments and collections and foreign exchange risk management. Our expertise and differential proposal could be summarised as follows:

Agility and Speed in Onboarding: we are significantly simpler with a digital process that does not require travel. Our objective is to open accounts in approximately two weeks, which is crucial for funds that need to operate quickly, issuing Blocking Certificates, etc. Our philosophy is that bureaucracy cannot stop business.

Specialisation in the Alternative Investment Sector: we know very well the needs of private equity funds, venture capital, asset managers, real estate funds and other alternative investment structures. This translates into an in-depth understanding of their operational and regulatory requirements in Luxembourg.

Emerging Markets Expertise: we have solid experience and capabilities in emerging markets (Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East), whose currencies are often more complex for traditional providers.

– State-of-the-art technology platform: our platform enables clients to manage payments, collections, currency conversion, reporting and access permissions efficiently. We have both local expertise and capabilities, with a true local reach that allows accounts to be set up from Hong Kong to the US.

We bring value in Luxembourg through our specialisation in the alternative investment sector, our operational agility, technology focus, experience in emerging markets and ability to offer customised and efficient solutions compared to our competitors.

What added value do you think the Spanish Financial Forum (SFF) can bring to the Luxembourg financial services industry and its professionals?

I believe it is a key element that creates community and a reference forum for the sector. From my position in Spain and Portugal, we see that there is a growing bridge between these countries and Luxembourg, and both the Spanish Financial Forum and the Chamber are key stakeholders in defending and uniting the financial sector and its professionals.

The SFF is an initiative that strengthens the Spain-Luxembourg nexus, creating a hub for analysis and debate in the sector, helps us to share market developments, best practices and business and investment opportunities, helps to give greater visibility to the forum’s member companies and defends the interests of the sector. In essence, it strengthens the links between the Spanish community in Luxembourg whose field of action is the financial sector.

We at Ebury are delighted to have joined both the Spanish Financial Forum (SFF) and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg. Thank you for your warm welcome, we are at the disposal of both entities and their members to get proactively involved in the great work being carried out.
