The Chamber hosts a conference in Brussels on the application of Belgian VAT to foreign companies
Last Friday, 12 June, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, in collaboration with its partner company PIA Group, organised a breakfast seminar on “Belgian VAT: practical guidance for Spanish and foreign companies expanding into Belgium”, at which Glenn Van Hemelrijck, VAT Director at PIA Group, reviewed the application of Belgian VAT legislation for foreign companies operating in or wishing to establish themselves in the country.
During the session, the expert provided Spanish business owners with the clarity they need to avoid costly mistakes by offering a clear and practical overview of the three main VAT scenarios for foreign companies operating in Belgium; when it is necessary to register for VAT and when it is not; the differences between operating without a physical presence, through a permanent establishment or via a subsidiary; as well as the common mistakes and administrative hurdles faced by foreign business owners.
Finally, Van Hemelrijck concluded his presentation by offering practical advice to attendees and advised them to contact PIA Group with any VAT-related queries.
