During the week of 16-23 October, Antwerp will host the seventh edition of the European Open ATP 250. The most prestigious tournament in this category in Belgium, organised by our member company Tennium.
Tennium was founded in 2016 as a Spanish sports management start-up focused on the tennis industry. A sport that they believe is one of the best matches for networking. Among the tournaments it promotes, the European Open stands out. A competition that this year will feature some of the best tennis players in the world, such as Hubert Hurkacz (ATP-10) and the three Grand Slam winners Andy Murray (ATP-43), Stan Wawrincka and Dominic Thiem.
Although the event goes far beyond the sporting dimension, as Juan de Dios Aguirre, Partner & Executive Director of Tennium, explains in conversation with CámaraBeLux: “Since 2018, when we became promoters of the European Open ATP 250, this became an event with soul, and that’s what makes people enjoy it and want to come back.”
Tennium sells tickets and offers exclusive VIP packages to experience it in a unique way with friends, clients or family. “It’s not just a customer attraction tool,” stresses Juan de Dios. “It is also a way to get closer to the team in human dimension, or simply to enjoy a different atmosphere with our loved ones”.
In fact, the European Open brings together all publics, not just the most passionate tennis fans. Unlike in Spain, where tournaments such as the Mutua Madrid Open or the Conde de Godó attract visitors with big stars on their line-ups, Tennium works every year in Belgium to improve the experiential part, says its Executive Director. “We have to strengthen the experience more and more so that people start to make the decision to come for this reason”.
