Company: Clinique Psychologie Luxembourg
Interviewed person: Marcela Claro
Position: Psychologist and coach

What brought you to Luxembourg, and what need have you identified here?

I arrived with the conviction that psychological well-being is a silent pillar of personal and professional success. In Luxembourg, I observed a very specific reality: highly demanding international professionals, constant change and a great deal of responsibility… but few opportunities to receive emotional support in their own language. That is why I now offer sessions in Spanish at the Clinique Psychologie Luxembourg, located at 52, Av. de la Liberté, 2nd floor, in Luxembourg City.

You are the only psychologist on the Association’s roster who sees patients in Spanish: why is that important?

Because one’s mother tongue is not just about communication: it is about emotion, nuance and memory. Being able to express pain, fear, guilt or uncertainty in Spanish breaks down barriers, speeds up the therapeutic process and creates an immediate sense of security. For many expatriates, that space in their own language is also a place where they feel they belong.

What issues do you most frequently address in Luxembourg?

Chronic stress, anxiety, expat loneliness, identity crises caused by change, relationship and family difficulties arising from cultural adaptation, and burnout linked to high performance. I also support leaders and professionals who ‘function’ very well but are paying a high personal price: insomnia, irritability, emotional detachment or a sense of emptiness.

Your unique approach combines clinical work with organisational consulting. How do you link wellbeing, leadership and performance?

My work is based on a simple idea: there is no such thing as sustainable high performance without mental health. As a Doctor of Psychology and Executive Master Coach, I translate psychological science into practical tools: emotional regulation, decision-making under pressure, difficult conversations, healthy boundaries and habit formation. This applies equally to individual clinical work and to strengthening organisational cultures.

You have published two books and worked with major companies. What is the common thread running through your career?

Science-based human development with real-world application. Over more than two decades, I have worked in clinical practice, higher education, consultancy and public speaking. This broad perspective—from the individual to the system—enables me to understand patterns, intervene with precision and support profound change without losing sight of the day-to-day.

What services can you offer to Chamber members?

Individual psychological counselling in Spanish, corporate seminars and workshops, leadership and wellbeing development programmes, and mental health consultancy for the workplace (burnout prevention, stress management, communication, culture and sustainable performance). My approach is personable, thorough and tailored to the multicultural context of Luxembourg.
