The tourist, gastronomic, cultural and business promotion of Spain will be put on the spotlight at the city centre of Luxembourg
The Spanish Official Chamber of Commerce and the Spanish Tourist Office in Belgium and Luxembourg organised the “Day of Spain” on October 19 at Place D’Armes in Luxembourg with a large number of visitors that joined to this day, that aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations and the business opportunities between the two countries.
In order to show the touristic offer’s diversity, the Tourism offices of Andalusia, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Tenerife and Gran Canarias were present at Place d’Armes and offered several activities to the visitors, such as tastings of typical products from each region took throughout the day.
Thanks to Luxair, the main sponsor of this activity, attendees had the opportunity to play golf and test their “swing” in virtual reality, take a picture with his pet, LUXI, or had the face decorated with a make-up corner.
Sports, gastronomy and Spanish language
Spanish sports were represented by LaLiga (football), Baqueira-Beret / Val D’Aran (skiing) and Copa Davis (tennis). In this corner, visitors had the opportunity to take a picture with the representation of players of Barça, Real Madrid or another football team, and with LaLiga’s cup.
At the gastronomic corner, ham cutters of The Cortador Academy, the first school of cortadores de jamón in Benelux, offered to the public Iberian ham; the Spanish restaurant Podenco offered tapas; Salfeso Wine, a selection of the best Spanish wines, and the company called Valyser, offered “churros” as a sweet ending of the taste.
In the real estate corner, the companies Second Residence and Zapinvest presented their offer of apartments for sale on the sunshine coast of Spain.
Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world and was represented in this event thanks to EF and Fundación de la Lengua Española, both proposed stays in Spain for those who want to improve Don Quixote’s language. IE University showed, at the same time, the wide range of degrees and masters they offer in Spain.
Room for music as well
Among the various activities, the urban artist Belín, recognized worldwide, deployed his art postout neo cubism in the square throughout the day. Together with him, the conceptual artist Carolina Tafalla developed the “Amigo ” performance with the participation of Spanish volunteers.
Additionally, Viki Gómez, the elite global sportsman, three-time flat BMX world champion, brand ambassador and influencer, as well as BMX bikes designer, performed his BMX expectable two times and offer workshops for kids.
At the stage of Place d’Armes, the musical performances lasted all day long. During the morning, visitors enjoyed the flamenco show coordinated by Vicky Villalba. Similarly, the cumbia-funk style was presented with La Negra Albina, and the afternoon is was animated by the rock band called Baikonour. DJ Alex and James Go, two Spaniards living in Luxembourg, are completed the agenda with a techno music session.
