Katarzyna Prusak – Górniak outlines the Polish Presidency’s digital priorities
On Tuesday, 14 January, Katarzyna Prusak-Górniak, Counsellor for Digital Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU, presented the priorities of the Polish Presidency in the digital field at the Chamber’s premises.
The presentation began with a brief introduction by the President of the Chamber, Pablo López Álvarez, who framed the event within the framework of the Chamber’s line of breakfast debates that seek to follow up on the presidencies of the EU Council.
She then reviewed the priorities of the Polish Presidency, starting with cybersecurity, which is the main concern of the Digital Affairs unit. In this regard, Prusak-Górniak explained that Poland’s position is for the EU to develop a new cybersecurity strategy based on the qualification of professionals and increased investment by Member States in the sector.
During her speech, the speaker also mentioned as a priority the management of Artificial Intelligence and new technologies, stressing the importance of assessing the economic and social impact of these disruptive technologies to ensure a smooth adaptation of the markets.
The third and last of the Polish digital priorities is the discussion on digital diplomacy, focusing on policies for the management of the digital space and the promotion of a free, open and secure Internet.
The session ended with an extensive question and answer session in which topics such as data protection, quantum technology, AI legislation, infrastructure for cloud storage, among others, were raised.
