Within the framework of EXPOGAST, the Chambre de Commerce du Grand-Duché of Luxembourg and Entreprise Europe Network organizes the 1st edition of a B2B business meeting event on 26 and 27 November.

For professionals in the sector, the advantages of participating in this event of B2B business meetings are the following:

The Chamber accompanies ONCE and Ilunion in signing the loan with the EIB

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing ILUNION with EUR 35 million in financing with the objective of creating jobs for people with disabilities and investing in improving energy efficiency.   This is the first loan made by the EIB to a social economy enterprise in Spain and it receives the backing of the Investment Plan for Europe, known as the ‘Juncker Plan’.

The agreement was signed in Brussels last 25 of September by Vice-President of the EIB, Emma Navarro, and President of ILUNION, Alberto Durán, during a ceremony attended by Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen, and President of the ONCE Group, Miguel Carballeda. Juan Rodríguez-Villa Matons y Pablo López Álvarez, President and Vice President of the Chamber also participated in the act.

 

The project promotes social inclusion and will create 200 jobs, which highlights the potential of the social economy as a generator of employment for people with disabilities.

III Edition of the Golf Tournament of the Spanish Community in Luxembourg

On June 9th, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg collaborated in the third edition of the Golf Tournament of the Spanish Community in Luxembourg, which took place at Kikuoka Country Club. This tournament is organized to benefit the contribution of the Spanish Stand to the social work of the International Bazaar of the Grand Duchy, and was attended by more than 100 people from the Spanish Community of the region, as well as representatives of the Spanish community of Brussels. The contributions of the sponsors, as well as the proceeds from the raffle held during the dinner, will go to the contribution of the Spanish Stand to charity work of the International Bazaar. The initiative, which has the support and collaboration of the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, raised 2,990 euros that will go to the social work of the Bazaar.

The tournament was sponsored by Credit Agricole & Indosuez, The Information Lab and Bankinter Luxembourg, as well as gifts from different sponsors: AEFICE, Vicente e Hijos, Cortijo El Madroño, Crea Haus, LuxgolfHouse, Framoliva, Winery Salferso Wine  and the sculptor Teresa de la Pisa.

The winners in this edition were Carlos Álvarez in the first category, Emilio Carnicero in second category, and Beatriz Querol in the ladies category.

Collaboration of the Chamber in the b2fair of ICT Spring Europe

The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg has collaborated in the framework of the International b2fair matchmaking event  ICT Spring Europe, held on 15th & 16th May 2018 in Luxembourg. 80 companies registered from more than 13 different countries via different organizations and partners, such as our institution.

As an influential voice in the worldwide Tech community, the aim of ICT Spring is to encourage emulation and networking between business decisions makers, innovation managers, start-ups, researchers and venture capitalists on a European scale. The event represents an exciting array of fantastic opportunities with the participation over 5.000 key decision makers coming from 72 countries including leaders, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, start-ups…

Gastronomic Dinner with the Chef Marcos Morán in Luxembourg

Last 28th of February, the prestigious Cercle Munster of Luxembourg organized a gastronomic dinner prepared by the chef Marcos Morán with the participation of Hispania and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg. This is the first event organized in this prestigious Luxembourgish private club that promotes Spanish gastronomy for the last few years.

The chef from Asturias delighted the 70 and more participants with an exceptionally gastronomic Spanish tasting menu. Among the participants, the ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg, members of the Chamber, representatives of European institutions, head directors of global companies and Luxembourgish members of the Cercle Munster were present.

The event is part of a programme called “Hispania around the world”. It consists of a series of trips during the year which gives the opportunity to know better the Spanish gastronomy and products in famous places.

About Marcos Morán:

Marcos Morán is the gastronomic director of Hispania in Brussels and London. He is also the chef and the property owner of the restaurant Casa Gerardo in Asturias, Spain.

Mr Morán is the fifth generation of professional chef in charge of Casa Gerardo; the restaurant which celebrates its 125th birthday and which was awarded a Michelin star and “Tres Soles” by Repsol Guide.

In 2008, Mr Móran was awarded with the prize of “Chef of the Year 2008”. During the principal gastronomic congresses in the world, he is a very scrupulous representative of Spain. In 2010, he received the “Chef Millesimé” award for the most promising Spanish chef. In 2016, he was honoured with the award “Chef de l’Avenir” by the International Academy of Gastronomy which awards talented young chefs in Europe.

The restaurant Hispania received important prizes such as “Alimentos de España” in 2014 awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment and a prize awarded by the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy for the restaurant, with its chef Marcos Morán, which best promotes de Spanish gastronomy out of Spain.

Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Chamber

On December 6th, a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Chamber was held at the Meliá Luxembourg hotel.

During the meeting, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez (BBVA LuxInvest) was appointed as Vice President of the Chamber for a term of three years. In addition, the 2018 budget was presented, and discussions were held, among other topics, on upcoming activities of the entity.

Conference with Intertrust Luxembourg

Last October 18th, Intertrust Luxembourg organized the conference “Luxembourg vehicules: structures to invest in Spain; structures to invest from Spain” in collaboration with the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg. The event counted on the presence of a wide audience representing the financial and complementary services’ sector.

José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez, vicepresident of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, welcomed the attendees, presented the conference’s program and introduced the speakers. Additionally, thanked Intertrust for their collaboration with the Chamber regarding the event’s organization.

Carlos Ferrer, Cuatrecasas’ member, explained the following financial tools to invest in and from Spain: FCPs, SIF, SICAR, RAIF, SOPARFI and SPF, detailing their characteristics as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each one of them. After that, he showed how the foreign investors invest their money in our country through the structures to invest in property and NPLs (Non Performing Loans).

Afterwards, Joel Cárdenas, Director General at Intertrust Luxembourg, presented the wide variety of services that his company offers and he highlighted the help that they provide to companies in order to solve administrative problems that show up when they decide to set up to another country,

Subsequently, there was a Q&A session where the attendees asked their questions to the two speakers.

Finally, Bram Eijsbouts, Commercial Director at Intertrust Luxembourg, started his speech by highlighting the professional career of Intertrust in the Grand Duchy since 1955 and underlined that it is the second local office with more professionals, in particular 450. He also explained the current situation of the company in Spain and pointed out its adaptability regarding the current challenges they are facing, guaranteeing a personalized service and adapted to each client.

The Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg celebrates the National Holiday

Past October 11th, the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg celebrated the National Holiday. The reception, which took place in the Cercle Cité of Luxembourg, was sponsored by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, Banca March, Santander Consumer Bank, Luxair, BBVA LuxInvest, PwC and Bankinter. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, among other local authorities, as well as entrepreneurs, Spanish representatives of the EU institutions and many members of the Chamber.

The Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg, his Excellency Mr.Carlos María de Lojendio y Pardo Manuel de Villena, thanked the attendees their participation in the National Holiday, and the Chamber and sponsor companies in the organization of the act.

Juan Rodríguez-Villa Matons, President of the Chamber, attended the reception with other members of the Board of Directors.

Minute of silence for the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils

After the terrible terrorist attacks on August 17th in Barcelona and Cambrils, the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg joined the minute of silence celebrated last Friday to honor the victims of such a tragedy and their families.

Both institutions thank the people and authorities of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for all their support and solidarity after the recent terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.
