Minute of silence for the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils

After the terrible terrorist attacks on August 17th in Barcelona and Cambrils, the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg joined the minute of silence celebrated last Friday to honor the victims of such a tragedy and their families.

Both institutions thank the people and authorities of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for all their support and solidarity after the recent terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.

II Golf Tournament of the Spanish Community at Luxembourg

 

Last Saturday June 17th, the Chamber participated in the 2nd edition of the Golf Tournament for the Spanish Community in Luxembourg, which took place in Kikuoka Country Club. This tournament is organized in benefit of the Spanish Stand to social work at the International Bazaar in Luxembourg, being all the sponsors’ investment donated, as well as the amount obtained in the post-tournament raffle, to the International Bazaar’s activity. The initiative, supported by the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, led to the collection of 5,200 € that will be donated to the social activity developed by the International Bazaar.

The tournament counted with the sponsorship of BPP Crèdit Andorra Group, ANDBANK, Credit Agricole & Indosuez, LUXHOTELS, BBVA and CREA HOUSE; There were also presents from many different sponsors: AEFICE (Asociación de Españoles Funcionarios de las Instituciones Europeas), Vicente e Hijos, Cortijo El Madroño, Golf House and Restaurante La Boqueria.

The prizes for the winners were donated by Teresa de la Pisa. The winners of this edition were Borja Morilla in first level, Ferdinando Angeletti in second level and Beatriz Querol in lady level.

The organizing committee and the Spanish Stand in the International Bazaar of Luxembourg thank the participation of all the participants, as well as the support of different institutions for their collaboration and the sponsors.

Second Breakfast with Members of the Chamber in Luxembourg

Last May 11 a new breakfast with members of the Chamber took place in Luxemburg at the FIDUCIAIRE PREMIER LUXEMBOURG S.A. premises. The event was attended by new members, as well as companies that have been part of the Chamber for years.

Representatives of Fiduiciaire Premier, IN ART Fund Art, Ruiz de Peralta Abogados, LuxHotels, Arendt, AndBank, Prepare China, PwC and also other partners in their personal capacity had the chance to share a coffee and chat in a privileged atmosphere, in the middle of the Petrusse Valley.

All of them introduced their companies’ activities and agreed on the relevance of this kind of events to promote networking and increase the number of contacts in different sectors.

Presentation « Art, alternative investment »

Last March 30th, took place in the FREEPORT premises, the conference on the thematic « Art, alternative investment » presented by FIDUCIAIRE PREMIER LUXEMBOURG S.A. and IN ART S.A. both members of MM INTERNATIONAL GROUP S.A.

This event co-organised by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg got together with about sixty decision-makers of banks, family offices, art collectors, institutions and business lawyers.

The achievement of the event and the high level of the audience attest the future of the twosome of Art and Finance in the future world ‘s economy and more specifically for the Luxembourg’s one.

New Year’s Cocktail 2017 Celebration in Luxembourg

Last January 19th, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg celebrated the New Year’s Cocktail in Luxembourg. Between the assistants, there were the Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg and the President of Honor of the Chamber, Carlos María de Lojendio y Pardo Manuel de Villena. There were also many members of the Chamber, entrepreneurs, senior Spanish managers and representatives of European institutions and other local bodies.

Juan Rodríguez-Villa, President of the Chamber, thanked the participation to the assistants and remarked the evolution of the activity of the Luxembourg delegation since its opening in 2013. Furthermore, the Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg thanked the Chamber for its work in the development of commercial relations between Spain and the Great Duchy, and expressed his best wishes on this duty in 2017.

The event was celebrated in the Meliá Hotel and more than 60 people attended. The Chamber wants to thank the sponsoring and colaboration of Bodegas Salferso Wine and Luxair in the organization.

Celebration of the National Holiday of the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg

Luxembourg, October 11

Last October 11 the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg celebrated the National Holiday. The act, which took place in the Cercle Cité of Luxembourg, was sponsored by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg and was attended by local authorities, entrepreneurs, Spanish representatives of the EU institutions and many Chamber members.

The Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg, his Excellency Mr.Carlos María de Lojendio y Pardo Manuel de Villena, thanked the attendees their participation in the National Holiday, and the collaboration of the Chamber in the organization of the act. 

All the members of the Steering Committee of Luxembourg and the Secretary General of the Chamber attended to the act.

I Edition of the Golf Tournament of the Spanish Community in Luxembourg

Last Saturday 18th June, the I Edition of the Golf Tournament of the Spanish Community took place in Luxembourg. This initiative, which was supported by the Spanish Embassy in Luxembourg and the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, raised around 3,000 euros which will go to the charity work carried out by the Spanish Stand of the International Bazaar.

The Tournament was sponsored by the Association of Spanish Functionaires at the European Institutions (AEFICE), La Boquería, ALL FUNDS, Vicente e Hijos, Banca March, Cortijo El Madroño and Golf House. Likewise, BPP Crèdit Andorra Group, ANDBANK, Credit Agricole & Indosuez and LUXHOTELS were the Gold Sponsors.

The artists Teresa de la Pisa, Belén Irazola and Belén Rezola also contributed in the success of the activity, thanks to the donation of some of their works.

The Organizing Committee and the Spanish Stand in the International Bazaar of Luxembourg thanks both the assistants and the support of the collaborating entities and the sponsoring undertakings for their participation.

Conference with Intertrust Luxembourg “Structuring investments in & with Spain”

June 16th, Intertrust Luxembourg organized the conference “Structuring investments in & with Spain”, in collaboration with the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg. The Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg, Mr. Carlos de Lojendio, and many other representatives of the financial sector and other complementary services attended this event.

DSC_0011_retocadaSergio de Miguel-Jessel, Vice-president of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, gave a welcome speech, presented the conference’s program, and introduced the speakers to the audience.  In addition, he also thanked Intertrust for the collaboration with the Chamber in the organization of the event.

DSC_0057Rafael Calvo, associated of Garrigues, talked about investing in Spain from Luxembourg taking into account the actual fiscal scenario. He made an overview of the nowadays economic factors that contextualize the Spanish market of the multinationals opening a debate about “planning” and tax evasion. Furthermore, the speaker pointed out the principal factors that damage the international structural investments as the double imposition. To end up, Mr. Calvo mentioned the nowadays principal initiatives of the OECD, G20 and EU, like the directives of the package “anti-tax avoidance” as an attempt to correct the errors previously cited. In the second part of his speech he focused on the valid legislation of Spain when it comes to approved regulations to mitigate the tax barriers. He concluded proposing possible solutions to the problem such as an initial “filtering” of the structural investments.

DSC_0094_retocadaLater on, Frank Welman, General Director of Intertrust Luxembourg, highlighted the most characteristic factors of the fiscal market of Luxembourg, as well as a varied offer of products and financial services and their fiscal and political stability. He presented a general vision of Intertrust Luxembourg emphasizing their costumers database in Europe and Latin-America, where the second biggest office of Intertrust is located.

Carmen Rozpide, General Director of Intertrust Spain, started pointed out the added value of the Spanish office of Intertrust Spain as a business gateway to make business with Latin-America. She went through the history of the Intertrust office in Spain since it was established in 1995; she highlighted its proximity to the client. Mrs. Rozpide focused on the diversity of the activity sectors of the clients of Intertrust Spain and their adaptation capacity towards new challenges, ensuring a personalized service adapted to each client.

To end up, Sergio de Miguel-Jessel opened a round of questions in which the audience had the opportunity to get their questions answered by the speakers. During the conversations, it was raised the possibility of a change concerning the Spanish fiscal scenario as a consequence of the actual political uncertainty.

Juan Rodríguez-Villa Matons closed up the event expressing his gratitude to Intertrust and to the audience.

Celebration of the Extraordinary General Assembly in Luxembourg

Last Thursday, 10 December, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg celebrated its Extraordinary General Assembly in Luxembourg. The meeting, which took place at the Embassy of Spain in the Grand Duchy, counted on the participation of Mr. Carlos de Lojendio y Pardo Manuel Villena, Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg.

During the Assembly relevant issues were addressed such as the reform of the Chamber Statutes, the approval of the budget for 2016 and the revision of the categories and annual fees of the members.

Consequently, with the approval of the new Statutes, the Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg was appointed Honorary Chairman of the Chamber and Mr. Ignasi Guardans (K&L Gates) and Mr. Joseba Arriortua were designated new members of the Board of Directors.

Celebration of the Spanish National Day at the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg

On 12 October, the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg celebrated the Spanish National Day. The event, which took place at the Cercle Cité in Luxembourg, was sponsored by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg and was attended by local authorities, businessmen and Spanish representatives of the European institutions, as well as numerous members of the Chamber.

The Ambassador of Spain in Luxembourg, H.E. Carlos Maria de Lojendio and Pardo Manuel de Villena, thanked the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Juan Rodríguez-Villa, for his presence and thanked the Chamber for its collaboration in organizing the event in his speech.
